Servicing Office Buildings, Retail Stores and Homes
More than HVAC
HVAC systems function better when integrated with other mechanical equipment and communication devices. Heating, cooling, ventilation, filtration, humidification, dehumidification, fresh air intake and exhaust are a part of some HVAC systems. However, sequence of operations controlled on location or by remote access utilizing sensors and timers do reduce energy consumption and improve an occupants comfort as well as protect the real estate and electronics in the buildings.
The basic HVAC equipment provides the essential applications such as heating and cooling. But there is a lot more that can be done to get more for the buck even in your own home and office without breaking the bank.
What's your comfort zone? Do you like your indoor environment? These are two simple questions. I find that people have more than two answers. If it’s a part of the democratic process to set the temperature to approximately 74 degrees and post a sign "do not touch the thermostat", do most people feel comfortable?
Here in the northeast part of the United States we are fortunate to enjoy the four seasons. The holiday season extends an invitation to Old Man Winter. The thermometer drops into the low thirties and the heating systems are cranking. The wind picks up at times and it feels like your ears will freeze and fall off. How nice and warm is your home? Don't you wish it was summer already? If you are lucky and your HVAC system humidifies, you are in good shape. Now, how about some fresh air? Oh, No. How much will an open window increase your energy bill? You have to breathe!
Aren't we glad that the winter is over! The spring season is finally here! It requires using a little bit of everything from your tool box of tricks: heating, humidification, dehumidification, cooling, fresh air, exhaust and filtration. Every day is a treat. Juggling equipment usage is a form of art and science.
The summer is another season that is no less challenging because when it’s too hot some foxes cannot tolerate the heat. There might be people who freeze the place because of medical issues or personal preference. In their defense – it is a necessity.
The ability to adjust and raise the bar will reduce energy consumption. There are methods that have been tested and proven to accomplish this Mission.
